Good Looks

We have been trying to figure out who we think Nora looks like and we just can't seem to nail it down. At first we thought she looked a lot like me but as she gets older, we see more of Justin. We are thinking she has a good mix from both of us...

    Nora & Justin {around 5 months}

  Nora & Lisa {around 5 months}

Justin & Nora {around 2 months}

Lisa & Nora {around 2 months}

...what do you think??

Five Months

And here we are again... another month has gone by!

Sitting up on her own a bit!

She is anxious to be on the move.

Looking at something...

Nora has changed a lot this month though I suppose I think that just about every month. No visit to the doctor so we're not entirely sure of her height and weight, but she has officially moved up to the size 2 diapers and into her 3-6 month clothing.

Look at those chunky thighs!!

Reaching for the camera...

Pretty girl!

Here is how she has changed since last month:

roll from tummy to back: She can now officially roll from back to tummy as well. She hasn't quite figured out that it can be a means of transportation but she does it on a regular basis! See Rolling post...
giggle: Nothing sweeter than little baby laughs. She likes to be tickled and play peek-a-boo!
reach for and grab everything: Nora has her hands on everything. She especially likes to grab faces. She is gaining a little more control in her reaching, but sometimes just bangs things on surfaces around her, I think on purpose.
sleep un-swaddled: This is still going well. She is a great sleeper! We've got her falling asleep on her own consistently for both naps and bed time.
bring her pacifier to her mouth: Nora uses her pacifier to pacify, teethe, and play with. She is throwing them out of her crib, too!
eats some rice cereal (kind of): As previous post explains, we are now feeding solids! We have tried vegetables and are starting on some fruits. We are going to add solids to breakfast as well soon! See Solid Foods post...
plays with toys independently: Nora usually enjoys some play time on the floor, in her bouncer, or in her jumper independently, unless it is close to her feeding or nap time.
plays with her lips and tongue (razzing!): She does this in the carrot video in another post. She is doing this less, maybe since it is less novel to her.

Grabbing those feet!

Things Nora does at five months:

talks, laughs, and plays social games
rolls over from back to tummy
{almost} sits unsupported
grabs feet and puts them in her mouth
sleeps through the night
eats pureed foods {pretty} well
kicking and playing in the bath tub
pushing up on her elbows while on her tummy
watches and pets Ford

Reaching for the camera again!

Enjoying tummy time

A couple of tummy time videos:

Until next time!

Solid Foods

We officially began our adventures into solid foods this past month. It has been a bit of a process, but it is going pretty good!

We started with rice cereal. She didn't mind it at first though she did spit about 90% of it right back out. I think after while she didn't want anything to do with it!

All is going well!

Still enjoying being a "big girl"...

Not so sure about the spoon!

Starting to get frustrated...

Annnnnd we're done.

Here's a video of her eating the rice cereal the first night:

We stuck with it for a couple of weeks and then it was time to move along. I made some carrots, green beans, and sweet potatoes to start us off.

First up... carrots!

They were super messy, stained EVERYTHING (totally strange...) and just were "eh" but she enjoyed it for a little while and more than the cereal, I think.

Here's a video after eating carrots:

We then switched colors and tried green beans. Again, not too thrilled. But then... sweet potatoes changed Nora's world.

She ate up the entire serving and was the messiest she has ever been because she wanted to get her hands on those scrumptious potatoes!!

We've so far been back to carrots and green beans. She loved carrots the second time around and just thinks "eh" of the green beans.

Up next for us... fruit! I made some apples and pears today so we are ready.

Rolling

Last weekend, Justin went skiing with some people he works with so I was on my own with the babe.

I walked into Nora's room to get her out of bed then immediately tiptoed out and ran to get my camera so that I could capture this moment for daddy...

Nora flipped over onto her tummy for the first time ever!! Our big girl!!

I thought maybe it was a one time thing, but she has been rolling over consistently ever since. She seems more anxious than ever to move around!!
