Happy Birthday Janie

Janie has a unique & fun birthday being a New Year's Eve baby. I love that her birthday will always be a special day. I also hope that she doesn't feel that her birthday gets passed by since it is on a holiday. I know that it will be something that I think about every year - how to make her birthday different from Christmas and New Years, which I know a lot of my friends and my sister can relate to having a late December birthday.

I think ideally, I would have taken the Christmas tree down before we celebrated her birthday but that didn't happen this year. I didn't want to have to worry about filling the voids in the house where the Christmas decorations were before her big party day so I opted to leave it up this year. The good thing is that I don't think she minded much!

We did celebrate with a cupcake on her actual birthday before the big New Year's Eve celebrations and she liked eating that yummy treat, as did the rest of us!

Happy Birthday Day!

I decided to have a theme of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" for the birthday girl's big day! A lot of the cute ideas I had "pinned" for Nora's birthdays that didn't use were very summer-y so I was happy to find a cute theme that fit more with her winter time birthday. I tried really hard to make the whole thing easier on myself than the past birthday parties we've hosted and this will honestly probably be the last one we do at home for a little while. Maybe I'll change my mind for Janie's second birthday... we will see!

We had some simple snacks and treats that I made at home on my own and I decorated with gold, black, white, and some pink. I decided to make a few art pieces which turned out surprisingly well. Being that I didn't start anything until TWO days before the party, I think it pulled together pretty well! We also didn't take nearly as many pictures as I may have liked, but we did get some of the sweet girl eating her cupcake.

Signing for "more"

My baby girl is one! I'm so proud of her and all the things that she can do! What a special little girl you are, Janie!
