Lately

Since Janie has turned one, I don't have an excuse to get on here regularly to update on our family happenings. Don't get me wrong... we are not going anywhere or doing anything monumental with our one- and two-year-olds, but we do have the exciting fairy wing play time on occasion.

We've been very busy around the house lately. Our daily schedule is kids up around 6:15 (us earlier than that), leave for work around 6:45, drop off at 7:00, pick up kids at 5:00, home to make dinner, do bath, and put to bed by 7:00-7:30-ish. There is typically minimal time for a whole lot of anything else unless I can get out of work earlier. Justin has started working locally, which is great because he is home for bedtime and that whole routine, but he is also not home until after we get back which makes making dinner a bit more of a challenge. It's hard to make dinner when you have a baby who wants to be held or a toddler requesting you to sit in the playroom with her or someone demanding a fig bar or screaming at the other about sharing a toy.

Cowboys Day at school
(before they were eliminated from the playoffs)

Picking up Ford from the vet! Went surprisingly well
considering I had 2 hungry, tired babes with me...

But we do our best to enjoy them while we can. Nora tells great stories at bed time. Janie snuggles really well basically the entire hour before we put her to sleep. They are super cute at bath time and enjoy having that play time together. And usually we all get to sit and eat together for dinner.

Sometimes when the weather is really nice, we will take a walk or play in the driveway right when we get home. Nora likes her tricycle and her new pink car and Janie likes them both, too - so they generally take turns. The weather has been erratic lately so we enjoy it when it's nice and play inside when it's cold.

There are also some days that they are just exhausted too...

After a morning with Grandma...

Can't forget about Ford!

Spring break is just around the corner and we are excited! Both girls will have updates next month on the blog, too. Check back soon!

Our Valentines

We enjoyed a low-key Valentine's Day (and days leading up to it...) this year. Since we were not all well and the weather has been warm and then cold and then warm again, we've had less energy/time to plan and just kept it simple.

Hugs!

Giggles!

Love. What cuties!

I did get the girls some fun little trinkets - stickers, notebooks, stuffed animal, necklaces - from the dollar store mostly but the biggest hit has been the window clings. Nora and Janie both like to move them around, usually at the same time, and usually causing a bit of a disagreement, but both of them like them none the less. Surprisingly, Janie nor Ford has tried to eat them and I believe that we still have most of them on the windows.

Valentine plates!

Happy to eat off of her kitty plate & cup.

Funny girl!

There's a smile!

Some more goodies.

Nora had a little Valentine's Day party in her early pre-school class and was super thrilled to bring home a bag full of cards and goodies that she had gotten from her friends at school. She opened each one in the car on the way home and actually listened when I told her not to open up any of the candy, thank goodness.

Getting into her bag of goodies at home.

So happy after school!

Janie couldn't wait to open her valentine, either!

Griffin gave her a valentine rainbow loom bracelet!!!

We had X & O doughnuts with heart shaped bacon & eggs for breakfast. The girls loved the doughnuts the most!

We took the girls to the park in the morning as it was a beautiful day! Nora walked up and down the stairs essentially the whole time. She went on the swings once and down the slide once, but got a little freaked out as she ended up head first somehow, and stuck to the stairs. She had fun though! Janie LOVED the swing, walked around some, but mostly wanted to be held as she started to get sleepy a bit earlier than usual.

Janie swinging.

Nora on her beloved stairs.
She would NOT let me take a picture of her smiling...

Janie, on the other hand, did not mind at all!

After the girls went down for their naps, Justin and I went out to eat lunch & shop, just the two of us, and to visit with some friends while Kathy watched the girls. We had a great day outside & really enjoyed our day overall!

Janie loves you THIS MUCH!

Happy Valentine's Day to you!!

Virus

A bad, bad virus struck the Peipert family this February! It went through our home taking one poor victim at a time until it had taken each and every one of us down. We are not sure where it came from, but sure are thankful that it is GONE and that we are on the mend.

Us girls, camped out at home!

You know you're not feeling well when the sun is in your eyes
and your sunglasses are STILL not enough to make you feel better...

Stay well, wash your hands, and go to the doctor when need be!!

Road Trip

We recently took the girls on a road trip to Austin to visit some friends. It was the first time that we had taken them both together on a car ride longer than 30-40 minutes.

Janie, as expected, slept in the car when she got even the slightest bit tired.

Nora, as expected, did not sleep in the car even when she was past the point of exhaustion.

But, both kids were well {enough} behaved that we did not rip out our hair and we all made the 3 1/2 hour drive both directions. We did not however get to stop at the Czech Stop on EITHER ride down I-35, which is a huge disappointment, but not worth waking or upsetting the children.

We had a good time in Austin visiting friends for both us and the girls. Nora & Janie got to play with baby Evan and meet little Dallas, two of our friends' young babes, and we got to see our friends & watch at least half of the Super Bowl.

We also went to The Thinkery, a children's museum in Austin, which was where the only pictures from the whole weekend in Austin were taken.

We all had a good time on our first road trip!
