Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!
Love, Nora

Last Thanksgiving Nora was not quite three months old and although fun, it was not quite the same as having a toddler running around!

I will eat my turkey!!!!

I couldn't help myself... these were all so cute.

Nora's first Thanksgiving! So little.

In the morning, we enjoyed watching some of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on TV! We stayed in our pajamas in the morning and Nora was super cuddly (she needed an early nap) but I didn't mind. She would even dance to some of the music. So sweet.

Woooaaah.

 Snuggles!

While she napped, I got food ready and Auntie K and Collin came over to do the same. This year we all celebrated together at Grandma & Grandpa Peipert's house. We had lots of yummy food and I drank lots of sparkling Grape-Cranberry juice.

Nora enjoyed eating her very first Thanksgiving meal. Earlier in the day she was signing that she was hungry and also bird, so I thought "How appropriate!!" As it turns out, she didn't each too much of the turkey itself. I think her favorite things from the meal were the rolls and the corn casserole. And the spoon itself, of course.

Yum!

Nora spent the rest of the day running around and being down right cute. We tried to get some pictures but she didn't want to sit still so much.

It was an all-around great day!

Six Weeks

We are officially six weeks out from our due date (as of Monday)!

I started to get a little worried about the BIG things that need to be accomplished by January 6th:

1. Long term sub plans
2. Preparing for Christmas
3. Getting a nursery ready

And that doesn't include just the everyday things, like spending time with Nora, working and planning for my classroom currently, cleaning the house, and generally living life.

Sooooo... I decided that Thanksgiving week was going to be the time to get busy on the big things.

On Monday and Tuesday I worked all day while Nora was at school and got my sub plans and materials set to go. That was a HUGE check off the list.

This is NINE weeks of plans. Yikes!

And... I made Valentines. Couldn't help it.
I also made birthday cards for those that will happen while I'm gone.

We spent last weekend putting up the Christmas decorations. I generally do not put them up until after Thanksgiving, but I really didn't want to worry about it so we just went with it. I got all my Christmas shopping DONE (thanks to Amazon Prime) early in the week. Now I will just need to wrap it up and get it under the tree, once it all arrives of course. So that's another (almost) huge check off the list.

Loving our newly embroidered stockings!!

And I got a fourth at Target!

This is only about half of what I ordered. The Enfamil container was I guess an extra prize.

So far, so good on the Christmas tree being up in the living room.
Nora has enjoyed looking at it, but rarely touches.
We will see if this is also true for presents...

So the last thing is getting the nursery ready. We do now officially have a crib in the room. I also painted a dresser to use for a changing table. I have a couple more projects to complete as well as general decorations to put up in there before saying that it is "finished" but I am definitely feeling as if it is starting to come along.

She is a very good helper.

Ta da! A crib. If nothing else, the baby has a place to sleep!

Dresser before...

Dresser after... I needed to switch out one more knob but you get it.

And Nora rediscovered her bouncer. She would sit in it and then lay back.
We got a real kick out of this!

So now actual baby updates:

Nora is doing great! She really likes school and is learning SO much sign language and social skills. I am impressed with how much she picks up in such short time. I think sometimes that she tries to tell me things and I don't know what she is saying because she knows way more than what I know that she knows. Does that make sense???

She will go to the doctor for her 15-month check up next week so I will have more specific updates on her then!

I haven't been much updating about the new little nugget mostly because she is just progressing as usual. Growth and everything has been spot on and there isn't much to report. And I haven't taken ANY pictures of the belly, unlike with Nora. I guess that's the second child for ya!

We had a doctor's appointment at 34 weeks exactly and we had an ultrasound done. We got to see little babe moving around some and even blinking her eyes! And they confirmed that she is definitely a girl. I have been having dreams about that and in fact, had another AFTER the appointment. I really hope that doesn't mean something...!!! I mean, the room is purple.

I will have three more weeks of work after Thanksgiving before my holiday break and then maternity leave, back to back. Sooo, December 20th... come on!! Plus, Justin has taken off the same two weeks I have off at the end of the year, so we will enjoy some time together as a family and with our families before the new little gal is welcomed into the family! I'll be at the doctor weekly until then, so things are officially very close.

Baby Janie's monogrammed converter gown!
We can bring her home now!

We are excited to meet our new daughter (and I am really over being pregnant) but we are loving spending time with Nora as well. It will be an emotional few weeks, that's for sure!
