Ford Family

We had a plan.

After Justin's truck was paid off, it would be my turn to get a new car. I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted and started saving. Then, we found out we were having a baby so...

...plans changed. We were going to wait since there were going to be other expenses. But...

...plans have changed again. So, without further ado I present to you...

MY NEW CAR!!!

I am very happy that it all worked out and we got what we needed, what I wanted in a car, and in perfect timing!

It's a 2011 Ford Edge with great mileage and features. We'll be having easy-to-clean leather put in sometime in the next week or so and then it will be ready for a car seat & baby!

It was a little sad to know that I will never see my old friend again...

... but it was time to move on to a bigger and better vehicle for our family.

Love Those Thrifty Finds

I've just finished the final furniture piece for the nursery and am excited to share! We've both been very happy with the total cost of the furniture and we owe Craigslist and hand-me-downs for it! The last and latest is this end table that I found for $15.

We already had primer and paint so all I needed to get in addition was a new pull to make it a little more interesting. Now all finished, it's in the room and waiting to be filled with baby "stuff"! It should be perfect next to the recliner, which I hope Justin can get in there sometime this coming weekend.

Now, on to the walls! I think I have a plan. Maybe too many plans, thanks to Pinterest. What will I do??

Happy Father's Day

I'd say that Justin has thoroughly enjoyed his first Father's Day. He did exactly what he wanted to do:

1. Drink coffee on the patio.
2. Go for a bike ride.
3. Shoot his pistol at the range.
4. Eat at Buffalo Wild Wings.

He's spent the rest of the day so far reading and relaxing however he chooses!

Both of our dads are out of town today, so we celebrated with them earlier. Last night we had dinner with Justin's family at Pappadeaux and we had a joint birthday (for Krista) and Father's Day celebration with my family last weekend at Chuy's and Yogurtland. Who can guess which one was my dad's pick?

Happy Father's Day to ALL the dads out there... Here's some of our family favorites:

Me and my dad in Galena a couple summers ago.

Justin and his dad at our wedding. I don't have many pictures of you, Bob!
(He's always behind the camera.)

Grandpa Peipert at his 90th birthday in Miami.

Me with my Grandpa Gruben at a family reunion.

My brother-in-law Joel!

And of course, the father-to-be!! You're going to be a great daddy!!

Special mention: Grandpa Baker and Grandpa Rendel... we're thinking about you today!!

Third Trimester

This coming weekend will mark the end of my second trimester and the beginning of my third!

Some highlights of the second trimester...

Around week 20 (halfway through!!), I finally felt baby movement. In the 1-2 weeks leading up to then, I felt something occasionally but wasn't quite sure what it was. Around this time I figured out the more specific movements of the baby!

A couple of weeks later, Justin was able to feel our daughter move from the outside!

Baby girl has had a little growth spurt just in the last few weeks! I've noticed some bigger jumps on the scale than I had been seeing over the last few months. She has really gotten quite big (should I say, long?) - sometimes I can tell exactly where she is just when I'm sitting or standing still! It's hard to believe that just a few months ago she was the size of a bean!

I've been sleeping very well and now that school is out I plan on staying inside to avoid the nasty Texas summer heat. I'll start seeing the doctor every two weeks and we will be meeting with some potential pediatricians towards the end of the month and into July. We're hoping for a great end to the pregnancy and are looking forward to meeting our baby girl in September!! I just have to get everything (including my classroom...) ready in the meantime!

Here's an update on the baby bump:
