The Second Week of Christmas

We started this week watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas". The girls were both entranced for the first 3 minutes {when the music was playing} but Nora most loved the felt nativity scene that I made her to play with. She likes putting all of the pieces on, taking them off, and repeating over and over! She has learned who baby Jesus and mommy Mary are, so I guess it's a win even though Charlie Brown was kind of a bust.

Things got a bit busy in the middle of the week with Janie coming down with an ear and sinus infection, but we did make it to see Santa this week together. We prepped Nora for this moment by showing her pictures of her past years to see Santa and also talking about what would happen when she got there. She was so excited to see him when the day came! She talked about him giving her presents {which we clarified would not happen...} and what kind of present she would ask him for. She specified a yellow present.

We went to the sweet little toy store in Town Square called The Owl's Nest to visit Santa, which was my life saver Nora's first Christmas and is now where we "go" for Santa visits. We had to wait about 3-4 people to see Santa, which is not a problem in a toy store. Nora played with the toy kitchen and then it was her turn! She was a little hesitant, but didn't get upset in the least and then when Santa asked her about her red shoes, that was that. She sat with Santa and told him about her shoes and that she wanted a yellow present. We backed Janie into the picture and she looked at Santa and decided he wasn't so bad and even smiled at mommy for some pictures and then got freaked out that she was sitting with a strange man. I think they both did great! I am happy with the pictures that the photographer got!

Janie, Nora, & SANTA

Breakfast with Santa the next morning was not as big of a hit. Nora was excited about seeing Santa again in the morning and both girls got to wear their special Christmas jammies to school for the day, but something about the second Santa did not jive with either of the babes. Maybe it was that he didn't look like "THE SANTA" that we saw the day before. The one we prepped for and were familiar with. Or maybe it was the fake beard, or the painted eyebrows, or the fact that he smelled like beef and cheese {okay, not really - we just love Elf!} but it was not happening that morning. We did enjoy our breakfast with the girls and Nora was not scarred by the experience as she asked about seeing Santa again after school that day. Too much Santa in one week?? No such thing... HAHA!

Nora clinging to me for dear life.

Janie screaming bloody murder.

At least we got both happy and angry pics this year, right?

We finished the week by making a gingerbread house. Nora liked putting the little candies on the icing but she most enjoyed decorating with the yellow pieces. And licking her fingers of all the sugar. Nora was so proud of her finished product!

Proud little girl!
