This is the week that Justin started traveling again {yikes} so I had my fingers crossed that I wouldn't lose my mind until Thursday evening.
We had a good weekend. We didn't have any previous commitments, just a few things to mark off our "to do" lists, so we mostly had a regular ol' weekend. We split ways on Saturday morning - I took Nora with me up to my classroom {EEEK!} for a couple of hours and Justin took Janie to get groceries and visit Grandpa. The girls and I were on our own after naps were over for a couple of hours so we went to get free slurpees from 7-Eleven and then to the craft store to pick up a few fun things. {High five} to 7-Eleven for offering free slurpees on July 11th - we LOVED ours!
Janie of course spilled hers down the front of her new Kickee Pants romper. Cherry red. Another huge {high five} to Resolve Spray & Wash for taking the stain clear out of the romper. I mean, Pampers wipes couldn't clean it clear off of her tummy so that's pretty amazing. I regretfully do not have a before and after picture of that stain but trust me, it's kind of amazing.
Sunday we saw Mimi & Pops for doughnuts (Janie's new food obsession) and even had a good dinner out as a family! Nora even enjoyed the guacamole. It only took her almost three years!
Monday we had a busy, busy day and Auntie K joined us. We had dance again first thing and then decided to hit a local pottery painting shop for a fun morning out of the house. Nora seemed to really enjoy the painting but didn't have the patience to really complete the project and needed help from Auntie K. Janie was rambunctious and didn't paint much at all. Her tile looks fantastic since I did most of it!
An adult picture! And "Sis" Coke Zeros!
Nora picked out a heart shaped box to paint.
Her favorite color to paint with was... black.
We rounded out the morning with lunch at Chic-Fil-A (Nora's choice) and then went home for a little rest time - BONUS: Nora napped!
After nap time, we stayed around the house, did our Make It Monday craft necklaces {read about it here}, and had a little manicure time! Toddler manicures last approximately 14 minutes by the way.
Happy with her pink nails.
Janie and Ford.
Tuesday we stayed home the entire day really and didn't even change out of our pajamas. In theory, it sounded like a good idea but Nora had one of her WORST days ever and so maybe it wasn't. Good news: the afternoon was better than the morning. Bad news: I think I have 20 new gray hairs. Nora did not take a nap even though I swear she needed one.
We also saw "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" at the movie theater this week. I had never seen it and had no idea really what to expect and I will say that I thought it was pretty cute. Nora and Janie both liked it except towards the end where Nora got a little bit scared. After ice cream, both girls took their naps! In the afternoon we made some yummy popsicles which you can read about {here} and had a little outside time.
Keeping it cool in the summer heat.
Attempting to ride that silly scooter. We ended up resorting to the wheely bug.
This is Nora's first photo. Her shoes on the table.
They ended up there because she stepped in dog doo. NASTY!
They are currently in the washing machine...
The photographer in action.
We rounded out the week with a fun little tea party adventure with friends! There is a sweet little storefront in our home town called Let's Pretend Tea Parties {link to their website} that we heard about from a friend. They have a little girls boutique in the front and a tea room in the back with dress up clothes & accessories to go with. The girls both got to pick out a dress and Nora had her hair, makeup & nails done (there was no way Janie would sit through that part).
Dressed up!
Sitting patiently for her braid.
The hair & makeup, etc. was really very basic, but perfect for a two year old who doesn't know any different! She chose hot pink nail polish, pink lip gloss, a heart for her cheek and an Elsa braid in her hair. She chose a pink tiara and then we were ready for tea!
Cute girl!
Janie found a wand that she loved!
We each got a glass of tea & a cupcake. I taught Nora how to use a tea cup and Janie really wanted to drink from one too.
Drinking from her tea cup.
Loving her cupcake!
Nora all smiles!
Janie saying CHEESE!
After tea, the girls played and read books until everyone got tired and it was time to head on home.
Two princesses reading side by side...
Sweet friends!
Oh, and there's this {Bubble Guppies is a big part of our lives around here...}:
