Summer Week Five

We celebrated the Fourth of July most of the weekend and had a great time!

On Monday, I got to take Nora to dance class for the first time. The two girls and I piled into the car and got to dance class just in time to put on her ballet shoes and head into the studio. Janie and I hung out - took a walk and ate some snacks and read some books mostly - and waited for Nora to finish her class. We celebrated a good morning {and mommy needed some coffee} with a trip to Starbucks for cake pops. In hind sight, I should have gotten three...

Tiny dancer.

Cake pop!

Little sister loved it, too!

We did a little crafting Monday afternoon which you can read about {here}.

A little sticker time... how did they get there??

Our "Make It Monday" fun!

Tuesday we went to the library for story time and to check out some new books. I was proud of Nora because she asked the librarian for help to find some princess books and when we still couldn't find one, she let the librarian know again. Nora is usually pretty timid about talking to people she doesn't know at first but she didn't skip a beat this time. Way to go, Nora!

In the afternoon, we made a fun & tasty snack which you can read about {here}.

Tasty Tuesday treats!

On Wednesday, we saw the movie "The Penguins of Madagascar" at the theater with Mimi & Pops. We ate a lot of popcorn and learned that you should just go ahead and get the kids tray of popcorn, gummies, & a drink because even if you share a large popcorn, a small drink alone costs the same or more than that silly tray. Scams. We had actually seen this movie before and although I didn't think Nora & Janie were that impressed with it the first time around, they seemed to enjoy it pretty well this time. We ate some frozen yogurt and made it to the car just in time for it to start pouring down rain! Which ended up being all the water we would get for our "Water Wednesday" this week.

Nora is loving lemonade - a newly discovered treat!

Rain, rain, go away!

Come again another day!

These two girls really want to play!

Thursday morning we went to another library story time & music class and then Nora was really insistent on using a computer. That would have been fine had I {1} been able to figure out how to work it correctly and {2} been able to get Nora to leave when I told her it was time to go. I had to carry out a kicking and screaming almost three year old while the baby walked out on her own, cool as a cucumber and not complaining in the least. Bizarre. I'll have you know that this particular tantrum continued on for an HOUR before she finally went to sleep in her bed.

Look at her sitting way over there by herself. Good girl!

Side note: Nap time for Nora was successful three days in a row this week! Also this week, we purposely skipped at least one nap and she did okay until a couple hours before bed time. I guess now I know...

This week we also baked some yummy sugar cookies for our new neighbors which you can read about {here}.

Thoughful Thursday + yummy cookies = WIN!

We introduced the girls to the game
"Pretty Pretty Princess" - our first family board game!
They liked putting on all of the jewelry.
Not sure they understood the game.

We went to the aquarium on Friday to finish out the week. This time, Janie was my biggest concern. I guess Nora learned from our previous day's excursion not to mess with mommy while we were out. {Only girls who are sweet to their mommies get to drink lemonade.} Janie would run away like it was a game which let me just tell you it was NOT FUN FOR MOMMY. There were only about 237 children there on field trips at the exact same time as us and only about 12 of them even attempted to watch where they were going. So I had to also make sure we didn't get trampled over while trying to watch the sting rays. We did get to see the new rainforest exhibit which was alright - a couple of caimans and a yellow python. Nora remembered the yellow snake of course. P.S. Indoor aquarium pictures do not turn out well. Ever.

Nora by the fishies!
She loves looking at the sting rays.

Janie really enjoyed the turtles.
This was one of the one areas I could stand back
and just relax. And take pictures.

That turtle was totally hamming it up.
Where do I put the tips???

This girl has come a long way with this tunnel, too!
For the longest while she would not put her foot down in it.
{It has a glass bottom.} No fear now!

This girl was only afraid like... once.

I'm having a lot of fun with these girls but it is not without the challenges of toting around two kids under three. Goodness gracious! Justin will start traveling again next week so we will see if mommy can handle everything solo... send me some prayers now!
